HJM 13 This bill will urge the President and Congress to transfer title of certain federal public lands to State of Oregon.

The federal government loses money managing valuable natural resources on federal lands, while states generate significant financial returns from state trust lands.
.HB 3444 will require the United States to extinguish title to public lands and transfer title to public lands to state on or before December 13, 2018.

Illinois has the same operative statehood language as Oregon. Illinois argued that federal control of its lands restricted the ability to improve, protect, and manage its resources, limiting its opportunities to generate revenue on terms of equality with states to their east.
HB 3240 will establish a Task Force on the Transfer of Federal LandOwnership in Oregon
A task force is needed to consider how land management would have to change in order to generate revenues under state control.
States have a fiduciary responsibility to generate revenues from state trust lands, while federal land agencies face overlapping and conflicting regulations and often lack a clear mandate.
While wildfires, per se, are entirely natural, the size, intensity and harm are caused federal mismanagement of our national forests.
